Solutions for WISPs
Innovative Access Services and Routing
Automate Provisioning and Subscriber Management
with PPPoE and DHCP Services, QoS, Rate Profiles, and Authentication
Broadband access is critical in today’s connected world and Wireless Internet Service Providers (WISPs) and small ISPs have been heroes in building local networks to bring broadband services to customers in underserved areas.
Unlike large Tier 1 carriers, WISPs and small ISPs typically have smaller and more geographically dispersed subscriber bases, which makes it challenging to roll out advanced new services while keeping subscriber costs affordable.
netElastic vBNG is designed to help smaller service providers and their customers benefit from modern virtualization technology at lower prices.
Automate Subscriber Provisioning and Management
Broadband Network Gateway (BNG) routers are critical routing infrastructures enabling automation of network and subscriber management. Using a BNG eliminates manual per-subscriber provisioning and adds automation and integration into billing and other operational systems. This reduces administrative expense while ensuring accurate and timely billing.
vBNG includes DHCP, PPPoE services, and IP Address management. vBNG also interfaces with your billing system via RADIUS to authenticate subscribers, set their appropriate service and rate profile, and provide accounting records back to RADIUS. This automation reduces service and rate plan inconsistencies and manual provisioning errors that can lead to a poor customer experience.
Reduce or Eliminate Piggybacking and Theft-of-Service
WISPs experiencing piggybacking and other forms of theft-of-service can use vBNG to authenticate subscribers, redirect users to payment portals when payments are late, and use CGNAT to limit the number of network sessions appropriate for a single household (but not multiple households).
vBNG can also be used with RADIUS and your billing system to define and monitor the total bandwidth subscribers can use. This creates another opportunity for upsell revenue and reduces incentives to share services inappropriately.
Software Flexibility
netElastic vBNG is a full-featured broadband network gateway that runs on x86-based servers. This approach allows broadband providers to select the scale and deployment design that best fits their network, whether it’s a large centralized platform or a set of smaller decentralized BNGs deployed close to the customer edge. And since it runs on standard x86 servers and works with all OLT and DSLAM equipment, there is no hardware vendor lock-in.
Performance and Scalability
netElastic vBNG is designed to deliver unmatched performance and scalability with a highly optimized data plane and patented packet processing techniques. vBNG also runs on cost-effective x86 servers to provide unprecedented flexibility and even greater scalability. vBNG delivers up to 1 Terabit of non-blocking performance on 10, 25, 40, and 100G ports.
Small Router Upgrade Path
One netElastic vBNG can replace a rack full of small MikroTik routers, simplifying management, conserving IP space, and improving network performance. A second vBNG can be added in balanced active/active or active/standby mode for complete redundancy to support hardware replacement, network maintenance, and software updates.
Carrier-Grade NAT (CGNAT)
netElastic CGNAT helps WISPs conserve IPv4 addresses while transitioning to IPv6. netElastic’s software-based CGNAT can also lower costs by up to 80% compared to traditional CGNAT solutions. If you’re looking for an economical CGNAT, netElastic delivers unparalleled value with industry-leading price/performance.
